Why Are Events Only Open To Post 9/11 and Persian Gulf Veterans?
We are asked occasionally why our events are only open to Post 9/11 and Persian Gulf veterans and we think this is very important to clarify. As you can read about on our Staff page, our cofounders first became concerned with veterans’ well being during the Vietnam War, as they watched wounded veterans returning to the US only to be greeted by civilian protests, a mostly uninterested government and vastly inadequate physical and mental health care. This concern stayed with each of them, until 2007 when they decided to take action to ensure Iraq and Afghanistan veterans received a different homecoming. Since 2007, we have been offering events for post 9/11 and Persian Gulf veterans that contribute to a different experience upon their return, and to a more easeful and supportive transition to civilian life.
